Trevor Wheelock is a versatile multi-instrumentalist, educator, and music director based in New York’s Capital Region. He currently serves as the Band Director at Albany Academy, a prestigious independent college-preparatory school in Albany, NY. In this role, he teaches beginner through advanced ensembles, AP Music Theory, and Music Production, and serves as the music director and pit orchestra conductor for the school’s annual musical productions.
Prior to joining Albany Academy, Trevor taught K–6 general music at the R&E May School, working with students who have behavioral and special educational needs. His career in education spans K–12, higher education, residential treatment, and family services, with extensive experience supporting at-risk students and families.
Beyond education, Trevor is an in-demand performer throughout the Northeast. He appears regularly as both a solo artist and as a member of numerous ensembles, including The Rhythm Pilots and POGO, performing in clubs, theaters, and event settings. His musical direction credits include productions at both the secondary and collegiate levels, as well as professional pit orchestra work with Berkshire Theatre Group—experience that has shaped his ability to support, elevate, and seamlessly integrate within an ensemble across a wide range of musical contexts.
Trevor earned his BA in Performing Arts with a concentration in Music, graduating cum laude from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in three years. He is currently completing an MEd in Educational Leadership and Management at Fitchburg State University.
