Trevor Wheelock is a multi-instrumentalist, educator, and music director based in Upstate New York and the Berkshires. Currently, Trevor is the Band Director at The Albany Academies, a 200+ year old prestigious independent college-preparatory school in Albany, NY. At the Academies, Trevor teaches 4th—12th grade band, private lessons, AP Music Theory, and directs the pit orchestra for the annual musical.
Prior to joining the faculty at the Albany Academies, Trevor taught K-6 music at the R&E May School, an elementary day treatment school that serves students with behavioral and special educational needs that cannot be met in a traditional school setting.
Trevor has worked in a variety of settings including K-12, higher education, residential treatment, and in family services, working with the most vulnerable, at-risk students and families. He began his career teaching at a residential treatment center for at risk, adjudicated young men in grades 7-12, and has held director level positions in family services.
Trevor has provided musical direction for a number of productions at both the secondary and collegiate level, and has worked as a pit orchestra pianist for Berkshire Theatre Group. In addition, he performs solo and with a variety of musicians/ensembles all over the Northeast, and maintains a busy schedule doing so. His expansive repertoire includes everything from jazz standards from the Great American Songbook, to the hits of the last 5 decades.
Trevor completed his BA in Performing Arts with a concentration in Music in just 3 years, graduating Cum Laude from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, and is currently pursuing a MEd in Educational Leadership and Management at Fitchburg State University.
